  1. A bodyweight-only corrective strength program that pairs powerful breathing with intentional movement to relieve pain by restoring postural integrity.

  2. The best answer yet to the question “Why are our bodies breaking down and what can we do about it?”

Foundation Training puts you in control of your own body - whether your focus is on healing or improving performance (or both).

It is the ultimate accessory to the activities you are already doing, and can help you get back to doing activities that you can't do right now because of pain, injuries, or lack of mobility.

What Foundation Training can do for you

Get to know Foundation Training

  • Foundation Training is a series of movements and poses that recruit specific muscle chains to increase strength and improve biomechanics. Every movement is paired with a powerful breathing technique to integrate muscles throughout the body.

  • Foundation Training restores proper biomechanics by strengthening muscle chains that tend to weaken and break down due to sedentary, modern lifestyles. It also improves breathing capacity and helps restore the powerful connection between breath and movement. At its essence, Foundation Training gets your body moving as it is designed move - as an integrated whole in which muscles reestablish their role as the support system of your skeletal structure, sparing your joints from undue stress and strain.

  • Foundation Training works by strengthening muscle chains that have been weakened over time through the dysfunctional movement patterns typical of modern life. By focusing on expansion, stability, and accurate biomechanics, it reverses poor movement patterns and restores integrity to your musculoskeletal system.

  • A typical Foundation Training session can take 15-60 minutes, depending on many factors. No equipment is required except a yoga mat and comfortable clothes. You should expect a physically and mentally challenging - but extremely rewarding - experience in which you rediscover how your body is intended to move and unlock strength you didn’t know you had!

  • Foundation Training is surprisingly intense! While there is no running, jumping, or lifting, Foundation Training requires focused intensity because every movement recruits muscles from the feet all the way to the head, many of which are weak from lack of use. The intensity can be dialed up or down depending on your goals and experience.

Expect to feel fatigue in muscles you didn’t even know you had, but also a relieving sensation of expansion and decompression.

  • Foundation Training is for just about everyone! No matter your age, athletic ability, or injury history, Foundation Training can benefit you. As long as you are medically cleared for an exercise program by your doctor, there are movements you can immediately put into practice.

  • Foundation Training has been used by world-class athletes, first responders, weekend warriors, and regular people like you and me who want an effective, proactive solution to our bodies breaking down. Even movie stars do Foundation Training! (Chris Hemsworth wrote the forward to Dr. Goodman’s book “True to Form”).

  • The most effective way to get started with Foundation Training is to find a nearby certified instructor. The instantaneous feedback an instructor can provide is invaluable for establishing good form from the beginning. Many instructors also provide virtual training. And the Foundation Training streaming site also provides an incredible amount of teaching and workout videos that you can work along with at your own pace.

In 2014, I discovered Foundation Training while seeking a proactive solution to my recurring back pain. The program's focus on treating the body as an interconnected system, rather than merely addressing isolated muscles or joints, resonated with me and I experienced significant pain relief and improved movement patterns after implementing the program. I was inspired to become a Level 1 Certified Foundation Training Instructor to deepen my own understanding and mastery of the movements, but more importantly, to share the benefits with others.

I have had the privilege of working with clients from various backgrounds, each with unique challenges and goals. My approach is tailored to each individual, starting with the basics and gradually introducing more advanced movements. After seeing Foundation Training have such a powerful impact on people’s lives, I am excited to continue introducing more people to the practice.

As a Foundation Training instructor, my objective is to offer you a proactive and effective method for alleviating pain, improving posture and movement, and enhancing your overall quality of life. I want to empower you to take ownership of your own healing, and to move, breathe, and feel better as you navigate your busy life.
